Zinfandel by Nugan Estate Winemaking:

The Zinfandel by Nugan Estate is our interpretation of the strong Italian varietal. This wine by nature is a robust red grape variety that revels in the warm climate at Langhorne Creek in South Australia. After we harvest the grapes, in March, we then crush and chill the grapes. The winemaking team then prepare the grapes for cold soaking and maceration. In order to do this, Chief Winemaker, Daren Owers, will inoculate the parcels with a pure yeast culture. They winemaking team will then pump over the tanks four times daily. This is done in order to extract maximum colour and flavour. Once this stage is complete, we then transfer the wine to American oak hogsheads for fermentation and maturation for 18 months. The blended wine was cold stabilized and earth filtered before being dispatched for bottling.

Zinfandel by Nugan Estate Winemaker’s Comments

This wine is dense inky red in appearance with a youthful crimson hue. It has fragrant notes of glace cherry, red currant, perfume and bramble. This wine if full of flavour with foundations of persistent fine tannins, candied red fruits, liqueur plum, allspice and a grind of pepper.

This wine airs perfectly with reverse seared Tomahawk steak, served with fat, hand cut Chips cooked in Duck fat.
