Wally’s Hut Chardonnay
The Wally’s Hut Chardonnay Winemaking:
The Wally’s Hut Chardonnay is part of the export range of wines from Nugan Estate. There are many environmental factors at play in the area where the fruit grows, which allows the fruit to ripen. Warm sunny days and cool nights are responsible for producing Chardonnay fruit of optimum flavour and balance. The winemaking team, under the guidance of Chief Winemaker, Daren Owers, will harvest the fruit during the cool of the night. They will do this in order to retain the delicate and natural aromas and flavours of the fruit. After this, the team will then crush and bag press the fruit. It will then go through the fermentation process, which happens at cool temperatures to preserve the delicate fruit flavours. Small portions of the blend will receive a French Oak treatment, and this is done in order to add complexity to the final blend.
The Wally’s Hut Chardonnay Winemaker’s Comments
This wine is pale straw in appearance, with vibrant aromas of white stone fruit. These flavours are paired with grapefruit and hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and vanillin spice. A fresh and vibrant Chardonnay with a crisp, dry finish.
