Talinga Park Shiraz
This is a lively, medium bodied style of Shiraz that is bursting with ripe berry fruit, spices and black pepper, subtle tannins and a long, smooth finish.
The Talinga Park Shiraz from Nugan Estate is a favourite of our wine club members. Talinga Park was once a thriving orange grove and nursery of exotic fruit trees. It is now the name of Nugan Estate’s range featuring wine of exceptional quality. The Talinga Park range continues to over-deliver on both value and quality.
Our achievements have been widely recognized with Nugan wines receiving 44 trophies and over 1,500 medals. Nugan Estate is a top 20 wine producer in Australia. In addition to this, Nugan Estate is the 17th largest exporter of branded wine in Australia.
Daren Owers our chief winemaker has been an integral part of our winemaking success from the very beginning. Daren did work in the juice factory as a lab technician. He later became involved in winemaking and went to university to train as a wine maker. Daren is now our chief wine maker and has been since 2003.
His personal perfectionism shone through in his early years. He won the award of “Young Winemaker of the year” Member’s choice by the Australian Winemaker Society.
The winemaking team dedicate themselves to produce premium wines from select vineyards in the King Valley, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, as well as the Riverina.
To retain the delicate natural aromas and flavours, we crush and cold macerate the Shiraz grapes. We then extract the yeast and pump over in traditional style to avoid the extraction of bitter tannins. The wine was then left to ferment and mature while a portion would receive some French Oak treatment.
